Jobs AI is genuinely good at
- First drafts of customer emails, quotes, invoices wording and follow-ups.
- Social media post ideas and captions.
- Summarising long documents or emails (check the summary against the original).
- Explaining spreadsheet formulas: “How do I add up column C only where column B says Paid?”
- Drafting simple FAQs, opening-hours notices and website text.
Jobs to be careful with
- Tax, VAT and legal questions – AI can be wrong or out of date. Check GOV.UK, HMRC or a qualified accountant/solicitor.
- Customer data – under UK GDPR you are responsible for personal data you share. Avoid pasting customer details into consumer chatbots; check the tool's business/data settings.
- Contracts and terms – use AI to explain jargon, not as a replacement for advice.
A simple starter setup
- Pick one free chatbot (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or Claude) and use it for a week.
- Keep a note of prompts that worked – reuse them.
- If you hit limits every day, compare paid plans in our free vs paid guide.
